
On Monday, October 28, 2024, at Suralai Hall, 7th Floor, Icon Siam Mall, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Ministry of Interior, met and encouraged participants in the competition and awarded the winners of the "Thai Fabric Design Competition for Fun New Generation 2024."
The event was graced by Ms. Sabida Thaithae, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Interior, who delivered the opening speech. Mr. Siam Sirimongkol, Director-General of the Department of Community Development, gave a report on the purpose of the event. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, along with other officials and members of the Thai Fabric Design community.
The competition, which aimed to find the best new-generation designers from across the country, allowed participants to showcase their skills in designing wearable and fun fashion using traditional Thai fabrics, suitable for all ages and occasions. The event is part of the Ministry's initiative to promote the "Fun Thai Fabric Wear" concept, inspired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya's vision.
The competition saw 40 new designers compete for a chance to influence the fashion world with modern designs using Thai fabrics. The panel of judges included prominent figures from the fashion industry and academia.
The grand prize went to Mr. Ruj Kamsri from Bangkok, who received 200,000 Baht, a sewing machine, and an iPad. Other winners included Mr. Nurdeen Waejaji from Pattani, and Ms. Thanatchaporn Worathongchai from Bangkok.
The event successfully showcased the fusion of traditional fabric designs with modern fashion, aligning with the Ministry's goal of enhancing the global recognition of Thai fabrics and generating economic benefits for the local fabric producers and designers.
